      Description

      The SD-RAN simulator emulates UEs and base-stations. It exposes the E2 interface which can be used to test the SD-RAN RIC (RAN Intelligent Controller).

      The SD-RAN simulator has a front-end and a backend component. This story tracks the development of the backend.

      The backend emulates the base stations and implements the E2 interface which the RIC interfaces with.
      The backend also interfaces with the simulator frontend from which is gets the UE mobility information, specifically the signal strength (CQI -channel quality index) that each UE is experiencing for the serving and 2 candidate base-stations. The CQI is time-varying since the UE is mobile.
