A while back BISDN updated voltha to deprecate the fragile port forwarding + pkill/teardown setup with an ingress controller.
There are some lingering references to scripts and logic in at least repo:ci-management.
An exploratory will be needed to identify if any dependencies still exist on port forwarding and purge any logic dependent on it.

IIRC there should not be the need for any port-forwarding for the voltha api itself, but i am not so sure about other possible connections (e.g. grpc or similar things)
Documentation will also need to be updated.
Maybe cite port forwarding as an option for people to use but the preferred/reliable setup will use an ingress controller.
